GCRC Application Process

The GCRC welcomes the submission of new clinical protocols by all investigators in the Institution, from all the medical specialties and the basic sciences.

NOTE: If you are new to the GCRC or if you feel unfamiliar with the GCRC application process, please ask for consultation help following this link.

To apply for a new project on the GCRC, the investigator submits the following to the GCRC:

1. Application for New Protocol Review (see below)
2. Supplement for Application for New Protocol Review - GCRC (see below)
3. Budget
4. Contract (if industry is involved)
5. Consent form(s)
6. Protocol

Email these as attachments to hal.rosenblatt@med.nyu.edu

If electronic copy of any of the above is not available (as sometimes happens with industry studies), send a hard copy to Hal Rosenblatt at NBV 8-East-36.

The investigator must also apply to the NYU Institutional Review Board (IRB) (see http://www.med.nyu.edu/irb/information_sheets/sub_app.html for instructions) and, if the study is to be done in Bellevue Hospital, the Bellevue Research Committee (see http://www.med.nyu.edu/irb/bellevue.html for instructions).

Once a project is approved by the GCRC Advisory Committee (GAC), it has to be re-reviewed at one-year intervals. For annual renewal of an already-approved GCRC project, the investigator submits the following to the GCRC:

1. GCRC renewal application (see below)
2. IRB Request for Continuation
3. Budget
4. Contract (if industry sponsored or initiated)
5. IRB approval letter and stamped consent form (if you have received this yet; otherwise, just the unstamped consent form)
6. Protocol (only if it has been amended since the last GCRC review)

Many of the other required forms are available at the IRB web site, http://www.med.nyu.edu/irb/irb_forms When filling out the forms, be sure to indicate that use of the GCRC is desired. Investigators are encouraged to contact the GCRC staff during the planning stages of the protocol so that specific needs can be identified and addressed prior to review.

The protocol will be forwarded to the GCRC Administration Office for scientific merit review by the GCRC Advisory Committee (GAC). Once investigators have been informed of all approvals, they must contact Eleanor DeCandia RN to begin scheduling use of the GCRC.
