This section of the General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) web site
is intended to provide potential volunteers and research subjects with
a guide to better understand the GCRC and the process of clinical research.
Please read and share this information with your family and friends who
are interested in participating as a research subject. You will find
information on:
- what clinical research is and who is involved,
- the Informed Consent Process and questions to consider,
- the different types of clinical research and safety issues,
- how to contact someone about your study or your rights,
and
- a glossary of research terms (words & phrases in
capitals are linked to their definitions in the glossary).
We hope you will find this guide helpful and complete. Feel free to
ask questions of our staff. They will answer any questions or provide
more information regarding your care and participation in research at
the GCRC.
We gratefully acknowledge the contributions of the General Clinical
Research Center at Virginia Commonwealth University in developing this
site.
